The Path
This author is a recipient
of the Sigma Tau Delta Award
The path of life shows clearly on his face,
with bumps and bruises fully as he goes.
As trumpets fade now, slowly goes his pace.
Lo, from when he wore a younger man’s clothes.
Cascading thoughts of yesterdays abound.
When brave men stood while others chose to hide.
With tear drops falling on the hallowed ground,
the path of life cut short for those that died.
So once per year protected men repent
the loss of those that gave it all for them.
The men that chose to pay for freedoms rent,
forgotten through most days, but not by THEM!
Though epic fights and legends rarely fade,
A hero lives forever in the shade.
